We also spent 2 days this week on the Winter Olympics... we talk a little able it every morning during our Calendar math, but we also made some cute skiers and Olympic rings art projects! I forgot to take pictures of the skiers but here's a run down of what we did!
1. Cover the table in blue butcher paper
2. Cover a styrofoam ball in white paint and prepare for a mess!
3. Roll the ball gently to your friend across the table
4. Repeat until the blue paper looks like it's covered in snowy hills!
5. Move the paper to another table to dry while everyone colors and cuts out coloring page skiers...
6. Glue the skiers to the painted sheets of paper and write the student's name with "Going for the Gold!"
They turned out so cute and the kids LOVED the chance to "paint" with something different than the same old brushes!
I did remember to photograph a couple of the other crafty project... We used an empty paper towel roll and different colors of paint on a paper plate to "stamp" rings! I didn't worry so much about color and placement, but we did talk about how the rings represent all of the country's competing and that they are connected with 3 on top and 2 on the bottom! I personally love the "not-so-perfect" art projects we get when the kids just want to be creative!
While posting this, I've been checking up on the stats and results of more 2014 Winter Olympics events! I am enjoying this year's excitement, but I gotta say I really look forward to the summer games more, only 2 more years! haha!
On an unrelated note... I just saw on facebook there are less than 30 days until SPRING! Hallelujah! Bring on the sunshine!!
